As the cost of living in the Bay Area continues to skyrocket, I have stood fast by couchdate’s mission - to make having beautiful things accessible & affordable for EVERYONE. To create moments for EVERYONE, not just those that can “afford” it. Especially communities traditionally marginalized & gatekpt from good design, art, & creative spaces.
As a business that was gritty & bootstrapped to begin with, this has left couchdate in a really tough financial situation. I either need to raise my prices for all events & furniture significantly, or figure out something new. As a poor brown kid growing up in Bay, I’m used to making something out of nothing.
